Editor’s Letter T
he end of the year often provides a point in time to either reflect on the previous 12 months or to see January as an opportunity for new beginnings and resolutions.
For myself personally, I’ll be starting 2026 with a newborn baby – so will definitely be starting the new year afresh! Although it won’t be my first rodeo with a newborn baby, I feel like I will be starting from scratch all over again! My new year’s resolution will be not to let the baby go hungry and to keep on top of nappy changes! This issue marks my final one before going on maternity leave very shortly.
For Sign Update, this means Benajmin will be stepping into my shoes while I’m away, and we have a new member of the editorial team joining us in the form of Ana. I hope you welcome her with open arms.
If you sit in the camp of starting a new year with new beginnings, then a visit to Sign & Digital UK in February should definitely be at the top of your agenda. Registration for this prestigious event has already opened and you can find out more about how a visit to the show will provide your business with a boost in 2026 over on pages 38 and 39. Alternatively, head over to
www.signuk.com to find out more about what’s in store.
Also embarking on something new is Canon. Benjamin explores the recent launch of the manufacturer’s Colorado XL hybrid wide-format printer. This marks Canon’s first step into the hybrid market as printers start to require more from their machines.
We also include in this issue a brand-new column provided by FASTSIGNS UK. Perhaps this column is the sign you need to start looking at biophilic signage in 2026?
Other features in this issue which are sure to pique your interest are Benjamin’s interview with Perry Eales of Perry Signs, who works hard to spread awareness of traditional signwriting and to keep this artform alive, and Scott Davis, sales director at All Print Supplies’ exploration of the concept of interior wrapping and whether you should refurbish or replace.
I hope you enjoy reading this issue of Sign Update as much as we have enjoyed curating the content. I’ll be returning to this wonderful industry and magazine in the autumn of next year and I already can’t wait!
Should you have any news you wish to share as we head into 2026, please do get in touch with Ana and Benjamin on
