ABUS CELEBRATES 100TH ANNIVERSARY


years ago, the locksmith August Bremicker and his sons founded August Bremicker und


Söhne KG – ABUS for short – in the village of Volmarstein. Equipped with little capital but a great deal of knowledge, experience and faith, the Bremickers produced padlocks made of sheet metal and steel with the characteristic name “The Iron Rock”.

Even back then, the credo was: security needs quality. Despite the great commitment, the company initially only generated meagre wages for all those involved, which is why in the early years three of the four sons involved were also employed in other companies and worked for their family business in the evening. Despite these challenges, the Bremickers always held on to their dream – self-employed independence.
