STAR WARS OUTLAWS One of the unwritten rules of traditional games journalism is that you should never let facts get in the way of a good pun. Here it is: Star Cry!

GAMESCOM 2024 We don’t need to tell you what gamescom is, or remind you to book your hotels and start scheduling meetings as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. What we do need to tell you is that MCV/DEVELOP will be there, not tucked away in a quiet hall with all the blockchain flybynighters, but hanging out with all the cool kids on the Ukie stand. We look forward to seeing you there.

Joking aside, Star Wars Outlaws looks to be a helluva lot more than the Far Cry reskin Ubisoft’s detractors might wish it to be. Last year’s Avatar Cry (sorry, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora) from the same developer offered ample evidence of that.

Remarkably, Outlaws will be the first open-world Star Wars game since

the classic Knights of the Old Republic RPGs from Bioware and, perhaps more importantly, the first to be set in the midst of the classic trilogy of movies.

CONCORD You’d think there’d be a little more buzz around Concord, given that it’s a first-party Sony game due to simultaneously launch on PC. At the time of writing it’s the 2,229th most wishlisted game on Steam according to SteamDB, so it could probably do with a little hype, to say the least. Not many 5v5 hero shooters have survived for very long on their own oxygen alone. Creative Assembly’s Hyenas, cancelled last year just weeks before release, didn’t even get to breathe that.
