Are mods that enable commercially-available flatscreen games to be playable on XR hardware a help or a hindrance?
Henry Stockdale: A help. A large majority of developers are not supporting VR for various reasons - some games simply aren’t a good considered if it’d work and others might not support, I don’t consider it a hindrance.
Bobby Thandi: Mods can be a double- edged sword. On one hand, they open up new possibilities for gamers who want games in VR. However, while these mods are impressive, they don’t compare to VR experiences built from the ground up. This can lead to mixed outcomes: they expand the market and showcase VR’s potential, but they might also leave players unaware of the depth and robustness of fully-developed VR games.

Jörg Tittel: Mods are an interesting concept and beautifully enhance some titles - and it doesn’t necessarily mean you suddenly have to jump across your living room to perform parcours in Mirror’s Edge VR (has anyone Thumper for instance - its VR version retained the 3rd person perspective but the game gains so much in intensity when played inside a headset. There are a variety of games that for making games playable in whatever way players want to experience them - as long as the quality is there.
