Nespresso Boutique, Victoria Gate

JOINT WINNING MULTIPLE

NESPRESSO, an operating unit of Nestlé Group, based in Switzerland, opened this 3,350sq ft store in October 2016. I was looking to buy a coffee machine. Inside

the store, I was greeted by Georgia, who asked if I needed any help. I said that I had seen Nespresso advertised on TV and that I wanted to know more. She immediately started presenting the

Nespresso VertuoPlus, which was on promotion, priced at £129. She asked if I’d like to try a coffee. She selected an Aflorazio capsule and explained

the barcode technology, which delivers optimal in-cup results and she mentioned the spinning Centrifusion technology that creates a naturally formed crema. Georgia demonstrated the VertuoPlus and made me a Gran Lungo, explaining that the machine offers five sizes of coffee. She also mentioned the Nespresso Subscription scheme which can be used to buy coffee, accessories and, if the credit builds up, a new machine.

Jessops, The Headrow

COMMENDED MULTIPLE

THIS store re-opened in April 2018, as part of a move by Jessops to cater for, and encourage, smartphone users to print their images in a digital age. I was looking for a compact camera for my daughter. Inside the store, I noticed that five members of staff were chatting behind the counter. After a minute of browsing, I was approached by Nathan. I explained what I was looking for and he got

to work very quickly, recommending two products from Panasonic. The first model (DMC-TZ70) was priced at £184.

Nathan said this model featured a 30x optical zoom, 10 frames-per-second burst shooting, high speed video in HD and a three-inch LCD screen. The second model Nathan presented (DMC-

TZ90) was priced at £299. He highlighted that the camera featured 20.3 megapixels (versus 12.2 megapixels on the first model), 30x optical zoom, 30 frames-per-second shooting, 4K photo and a tilting LCD screen. Nathan demonstrated the tilted LCD screen and explained how useful this could be when shooting street photography, for example.

COMMENDED MULTIPLE

I was looking to buy a sound bar or sound base. Inside the store, I was greeted by Ahmed, who asked if I needed any help. I told him that I was very happy with the 49-inch TV I bought three months ago, but I was disappointed by the ‘tinny’ sound that accompanied every kind of TV viewing, but particularly with films and sport. Ahmed immediately recommended two

products. The first was a Denon model (DHTS316), which was priced at £279. He said that the sound bar is fitted with two-way stereo speakers and a punchy amplifier designed to get the best from movies, TV and music. The second sound bar Ahmed presented was a model from Orbitsound (A70), which was priced at £449. He said that this model featured Airsound technology, which gives the listener the same stereo image wherever you listen in the room. Ahmed added that both models come with wireless subwoofers.

Trinity Leeds WHEN I visited this store in the Trinity Leeds shopping centre, I was looking to buy a portable Bluetooth speaker that I could take on holiday or on days out with my family. Inside the store, I was approached by Devante. He showed me a number of products that were located in the same area of the store. Devante said that the best performing portable

product in the range is the Bose SoundLink Revolve+, which was priced at £279.95. He said that the battery lasts for around 18 hours and the unit takes two hours to charge. Using his phone, which was connected to Spotify, Devante demonstrated the Bose model, highlighting
