The ERT Awards and Turning Point Live! 2019
The ERT Awards 2019 are now open for entries!
Now in their twelfth year, the ERT Awards bring together retailers and suppliers to recognise excellence across the electrical retail industry. Last year’s event was the first time the Awards
were combined with ERT’s Turning Point Live! – an exciting, new one-day event and a true, one-of-a-kind occasion in the industry calendar. Taking place on 7 October from 9.30am at the
Grand Connaught Rooms in London’s Covent Garden, Turning Point Live! will shine a light on best practice in the electrical retail sector. It will be a stimulating morning of conference-
style sessions, featuring proactive electrical retailers sharing their experiences, and manufacturers with their advice on new opportunities to navigate the difficulties currently faced across the industry to ensure a healthy future. This will be followed by lunch and a drinks reception before the ERT Awards get under way!
Who can enter the Awards? The ERT Awards are open to all retailers and suppliers of electrical goods and services based in the UK and Republic of Ireland and it is completely free to enter.
What are the categories? Some changes are afoot ahead of this year’s event to give a variety of retailers a fair chance to be rewarded depending on their activities, and whether

This gives retailers another chance to get involved in
the event, so keep an eye out on the main ERTwebsite – www.ertonline.co.uk

this online platform, we will be able to get a definitive answer on who the best suppliers are, which new

products have caught their imagination and which sales reps are really going the extra mile. For the Sales Excellence Award, every independent salesperson who has scored three or more out of five in ERT’s very own Take A Town feature since June 2018 will automatically qualify for entry into this category. A shortlist will be drawn up and all the finalists will be contacted. Every month, our mystery shopping team travels
across the UK to check up on the sales skills of independents and multiples and reports its findings in ERT. From the dozens of businesses visited throughout the year, our mystery shoppers select the eventual winner for this category.
How do I enter? The entry process has changed slightly this year. You can enter online in three simple steps. Simply head to www. ertawards.co.uk
. Select your categories (you can select multiple categories at the time of entering), supply your supporting information and media, and add your contact details.
For retailers – it’s important you write a great entry statement and provide any additional relevant information, such as your background, about your business and shopfloor, your staff or your customer service. All this goes in front of the judges for consideration, so don’t make it too long!
For manufacturers – p rovide as much information as you can about your products and services, or about your team members if it’s the Independent Sales Representative Award, but remember that retailers may be quite familiar with you and your brand so don’t go too mad!
There’s plenty of help and advice on the ERT Awards website: www.ertawards.co.uk
. Look out for the top tips for entering on the Categories & Criteria page!
The entry process is now open and it closes on 4 June 2019. Winners will be announced on Monday 7 October at the Grand Connaught Rooms in London. The ERT Awards and Turning Point Live! are organised by ERT magazine, the leading business title for the electrical retail sector, which has been published for an incredible 128 years!
