ANALYSIS: BUILT-IN Home Appliances
Belling’s Farmhouse 90Ei CRM 46
Sarah Whitfield, Product Manager for Belling at Glen Dimplex Home Appliances, says: “The ComfortCook multi-function ovens are designed for quieter operation by using up to four layers of glazing, which helps to soundproof them from the noise of the fan and also to retain the heat inside the cavity for more efficient cooking. “They also feature Equiflow technology, which means the heat comes from behind the fan, ensuring that hot air is evenly circulated throughout the oven for a perfect, consistent result no matter which shelf is used. “The appliances are also effortlessly easy to clean, with options including easy clean enamel coating, catalytic liners to pyrolytic self-cleaning. “The Belling ComfortCook Induction Hobs
are built for durability and precision, featuring Schott Ceran glass, Link+ bridge technology for larger cookware, and a bevelled front edge for a seamless aesthetic.”
Ms Whitfield comments that electrical retailers
are taking a leaf out of the kitchen specialists’ book by showcasing fitted kitchens and kitchen furniture alongside appliances: “Consumers want to visualise how the products will look in their own home,” she adds. “Having a full display in-store enhances the customer experience by allowing them to see the potential of appliances, which can often speed up decision-making. In-situ displays not only showcase the look but also the practicality of appliances, such as how induction hobs can integrate into countertops, as well as different design possibilities. And, of course, it also provides far greater up-sell opportunities if a retailer can offer the whole kitchen package.”

Continually innovating
AEG continues to innovate with new built-in appliances across its three product categories: Taste, Care and Wellbeing. These products feature cutting-edge designs focused on sustainability and sophistication, offering consumers both eco- friendly solutions and elegant aesthetics. Michael White, Channels Manager at
Electrolux Group, explains: “Our latest range of built-in appliances, including washing machines, washer dryers, and tumble dryers, is now available through electrical retailers.”
AEG’s 8000 Integrated Under-Counter Wine Cooler. Right: 9000 AbsoluteCare Washing Machine
One standout product is the AEG EcoLine 9000 Series AbsoluteCare 8kg Washing Machine, which has been rated 30 per cent more energy-efficient than a standard A-rated washing machine. This model incorporates advanced features to minimise energy usage, such as the AbsoluteCare 49-minute 30 degrees cycle, which saves 30 per cent more energy, as well as ProSteam technology, which eliminates odours and refreshes fabrics while using up to 96 per cent less water. In cooking, AEG’s SaphirMatt Induction Hob combines sleek design with practical functionality. Designed to address common consumer concerns about abrasions and cleaning, the hob features a sophisticated matte black finish that offers superior protection against everyday wear. “With kitchen design trends evolving, we want to offer consumers a hob that integrates seamlessly into their home,” says Mr White. “The SaphirMatt glass ensures a high-quality finish, and when paired with an integrated extractor, it allows for a streamlined look without the need for a traditional cooker hood.” At IFA 2024, AEG also unveiled plans to launch a new kitchen range set to debut in 2025. As AI technology continues to revolutionise the home, this upcoming range will incorporate AI-assisted cooking, aligning with the latest trends in smart kitchen solutions.
