Bedford Blues
Flagship activation continues thanks to charitable support
Blues Foundation are delighted to announce a further round of
fundraising support from
Bedfordshire’s Police and Crimes Commissioner which will enable extensive Tackle LIFE sessions to take place well into the future. One of the organisation’s flagship activation
programmes, which launched 15 months ago thanks to initial support from the PCC, Tackle LIFE is an alternative education and learning experience for vulnerable young people and has seen some incredible results since the launch of the programme at Goldington Road. Initially supported by former Bedfordshire
Police and Crimes Commissioner, Kathryn Holloway; Blues Foundation are delighted that new incumbent, Festus Akinbusoye also sees and relates to the impact the Tackle LIFE project has within Bedford and on the wider society. Additional funds have been granted specifi cally to work on this project, following additional support from Bedford Borough Council and T e Gale Family Trust.
Tackle LIFE looks to use the power of sport and
education to inspire young people who are disen- gaged from mainstream education or those at risk of off ending and off ers an opportunity to develop fundamental life skills and support their wellbeing. T rough a series of workshops, practical activi- ties and one to one support, each young person will have the opportunity to develop confi dence, resil- ience and communication skills, as well as support their own physical and mental wellbeing. Tackle LIFE is delivered by professional coaches and staff who will support the young people through their journey and ensure each participant is able to get the most out of each session. Head of Blues Foundation, Tom Harwood, said:
“Tackle LIFE is an early intervention programme combining physical and mental health alongside personal development and education. It allows us to mentor and support young people at risk of off ending or experiencing other challenges. “We thank the PCC for his generosity in providing additional funding to support the project and to the continued eff orts of Bedford Borough Council and T e Gale Family Trust who also allow us to deliver the project and have a meaningful, proven impact on society.”
