digital world, the possibilities are endless (read: overwhelming). Try some of the resources below to see what might work for you. Since I am living in the US my suggestions will be focused on resources there. You will need to search for similar sources available in your region/country. Do a web search and see what other ideas you might discover.
GOOGLE Business Profile. It's free and easy to set up. This is a quick, simple way to get your name out. Internet searchers from everywhere can see your location. Someone might be travelling to your area, looking for places to visit. Bingo! They now have your business information to add to their itinerary.

BING is the second most popular search engine. It's also free and easy to create a Bing Places business profile. Just claim and verify your business listing, then start updating your information. Once you're set up, you'll be able to start capturing traffic from Bing, too.

YELP Your business probably already has a ‘Yelp’ listing (whether or not you want one). Claim it and use this as an opportunity to increase your digital profile. This kind of engagement is another great marketing strategy that can gradually help you improve your rating and show up in local search results.

Get listed in the YELLOW PAGES. Yes, the paper phonebook still exists, but more importantly, it offers an extensive online directory.

It may also be useful to add a listing on the WHITE PAGES.

A FACEBOOK Business Page is simple and free. When customers ‘like’ and review your page, it can help to increase your credibility and drive web traffic. Go to Facebook and search ‘create a business page’ for help getting started.

INSTAGRAM also offers free business pages. And because it is connected with Facebook, you can opt for your posts to appear on both platforms.

Remember to keep your information up to date on all sites and platforms. Be sure to interact with those who give reviews or ask questions. Add photos or videos if possible. Other social media channels that
you may find to be valued options for promoting your business are Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok and Pinterest (see also my articles in Issues 77 and 82 for more on social media). Listing your business on search engines, maps, social media platforms, review sites and directories can significantly enhance your online visibility and overall
growth. So when a possible customer from your hometown checks the web to verify your legitimacy, you come up in good standing. It’s important to note, however, that for many of these platforms, adding a listing is different from claiming a listing. When you claim your listing, you can edit your information and respond to reviews, presenting your business in the best way possible. Education is vital in the millinery business. Many potential clients don't know what the words ‘milliner’ and ‘millinery’ mean. Talk about millinery, write articles, give demonstrations, and never assume someone already knows about what you offer. Speak and write in your brand voice, around questions and terms your ideal customers are searching for online and in your neighbourhood. Getting the word out about the
hats and services you offer can seem a daunting task. But remember, any additional efforts can have profound positive impacts. Choose the options that appeal to you and that fit with your brand. Only you can decide where to put your time to promote the business that holds your heart.
