to make way for the 12 power as sisted exercise machines which are certainly worth shouting about. Or why not get lost in a world

of exercise at Colne’s X-rcade studio which offers a variation of the latest exercise classes for all ages. The centre’s newly re-surfaced

and upgraded floodlit Astroturf means that playing games on the all-weather pitches couldn’t be better, with all sorts of tourna ments and weekly leagues taking place, from football to netball and hockey.

of Pendle Wavelengths what springs to mind is its wave ma chine and roof high slide w'hieh still play an integral role in fam ily fun and fitness. The Leeds Road centre has

also won a national award for being a top wet-side facility in the country. Adding to this. Wavelengths

is celebrating finding out it was one of only five centres nation ally to be awarded a staggering 87% in its recent assessment from Quest and currently stands within the top five of the coun try’s top facilities. For keen gamers there is the

chance to get lost in a virtual world in the Active Zone - a fit ness zone with the latest hi-tech equipment for both adults and

juniors to enjoy. And in 2007 the Trust introduced the latest inter active “danceactive” - the

'im m most advanced dance machine

system to date. There is also a women’s only gym

that allows women to work out pri vately.

Inside Spa

PENDLE Wavelengths is proud to say that it houses the country’s first accessible public spa - Inside Spa. If you are looking for the ideal

place to get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life, look no fur ther than here. Dedicated to providing e.xcellent

treatments in a relaxing, profession al and friendly environment, a range of packages have been created by highly trained and experienced therapists. Why not spend two hours revi

talising your body and mind with a Spa Experience, which includes

showers? Whether you are an experienced

spa-goer or a total spa novice, Pend le Leisure Trust has created a range of treatments and packages to suit everyone.

West Craven Sports Centre

HAVING been awarded the top centre in the country for innovation in inclusive marketing, West Craven Sports Centre has also continued to improve over the last 10 years. Pendle Leisure Trust’s Inclusive

Fitness Initiative at the Barnolds- wick-based centre even scooped the category award for “social and com munity”. Tlie centre is IFI accredited which

means it can cater for the needs of disabled and non-disabled people, raising physical activity participa tion levels. Like its sister centres, the Kel-

brook Road centre has a dance stu dio and a multi-purpose sports hall.

The centre boasts a traditional

25m swimming pool along with a smaller, warmer learner pool. There is also a fitness suite with state-of-the-art equipment.

Seedhill Athletics and Fitness Centre

SEEDHILL Athletics and Fitness Centre in Surrey Road, is arguably one of the top public athletic centres in the North-West. Having had a £45,000 equipment

re-vamp, including a new throwing cage to add to its already extensive equipment, it’s no wonder the cen tre is responsible for-nurturing and producing strong local talent. Home to the hugely successful

Pendle Athletics Club, the athletes regularly return to their club with handfuls of medals. The centre also' houses a 6-lane

400m county standard synthetic track, and new floodlights showcase the steeplechase and water jump hurdles, discus cage and long jump

pit. The centre may be on a smaller

scale to its sister centres but never theless it meets up to the challenge. Its fully-fitted fitness suite has a

varied range of cardio-vascular and resistance equipment that allows anyone to pop in and undergo a gru elling gym session.

Marsden Park Golf Course

BUT if gentle exercise is more your thing there is always Marsden Park Golf Course which is open all year round. Set in the foothills of Pendle Hill

it may be a public course but it has a veiy' private feel. A testing IS holes of 5,989 yards

with a par of 70, as well as a putting green and practice area. It has also benefited from a

£50,000 improvement to its machin ery, balcony and drainage. Take advantage of the bar and dining area after your round!
