PLANS for a new multi-mil lion pound hospital in Clit- heroe are set to be shelved,
it has been revealed. A new hospital in Clithe-
roe promised to revolutionise healthcare for people in the rural borough. Now health officials have
claimed the development, along with other similar schemes in East Lancashire, is no longer affordable due to the tough economic climate and tight NHS finances. The decision has not yet
been formally rubber stamped, but that is the recommendation being put to a full board meet ing of NHS East Lancashire which is due to take place later today (Thursday). The news comes as a massive blow to residents in the Kibble
