PRESSED TO IRONING SERVIGES

Family complete half marathon
r-'- Jv r'-.
Lcxal business entrepreneur Diane Duman seized an opportunity when she realised she could turn her favourite household chore into a new business venture and the result is "Pressed to Impress", her new business based at The Sidings, Whalley. "A big incentive was that I realised that by starting my own ironing service, I could run a business and still beat home with my son, who's only 14 months old' explains Diane.
Starting out in her kitchen at home, it quickly became, apparent that bigger premises were needed and with the move came expansion of the business. Adding specialist dry cleaning, clothes alterations and shoe repairs to her services, Diane now provides a "one-stop-shop" for her loyal customers.
"Feedback has been that they really appreciate bringing their dry cleaning at the same time as dropping off their ironing. I also offer a free delivery and collection service for those who prefer and this is also proving to be something that's really useful for busy people. I always try to accommodate all special requests and pride myself on the fact that I have a true 24 hour turnaround, while most ironing services take much longer."
As with any business, value for money will be the key to Diane's /
ongoing success and she's well aware that she must remain competitive V; on price to stay ahead.
"I've really tried to simplify my price list and so just have one charge for all adult garments as opposed to a long list for different items. It keeps things simple for my customers and I can conhdently say that I'm the most competitively priced service in the area."
For more details, call Diane on 01254 823668 or 07792 848687% or visit her at Unit 8, The Sidings, Whalley.

'v - Mountaineering club has its ups and downs
SIX members of Clitheroe Mountaineering Club enjoyed an energetic bank holiday weekend of mixed weather during a three-day camping

meet at Brithdlr, near Dolgel lau. On the Saturday the group
walked the main traverse of the Aran mountains, setting out in clear p d bright conditions which deteriorated, and saw them en gulfed in low cloud and buffeted by strong winds and heavy show ers during the
climb.Throughout the night and into the following
rnorning heavy showers con tinued, so on Sunday the group headed off to Blaenau Ffestiniog to explore the former deep mine workings of Llechwedd slate quarries and the visitor centre. However, on emerging back
i____ .
into daylight the weather had taken a dramatic turn for the better, encouraging members to take the short drive to Boch-y- rhaidr near Llyn Celyn to climb Arenig Fawr.
On Monday one group decid
ed to make the most of the now idyllic weather by climbing the 500 feet Cyfrwy Arete.
It proved a testing series of _ ■
careful ascents and awkward de scents in which the use of a rope was appreciated, finally bringing the party successfully to the top of C ^ v y late in the afternoon. The club’s August day meet
was based at Kirkland in the Eden Valley, near Penrith. Nine members set out in fine weather to climb Cross Fell via High Cap, before descending to Tees Head and continuing via the Pennine Way to Little Dun Fell and Great Dun Fell, the site of the Civil Aviation Authority’s air traffic control radar. Returning to Tees
Head, the party descended via Wildboar Scar and the Hanging Walls of Mark Anthony back to Kirkland. At a recent meeting, members were able to try out a survival shelter bought from a grant donated to the club by the British Mountaineering Council. Using the grant, the club was
able to buy two survival shelters, two first aid kits and a thermal survival bag to use during out door meets. Details about any of the club’s
activities can be obtained from the secretary, Nick Millward, on 01200 441346.
