Behind the scenes
A strategic plan with you at the center
The story of Palmer College of Chiropractic’s new strategic plan began at last year’s Board of Trustees retreat, an annual summit of College leaders. In conversations, nothing was “sacred,” and no idea was too far outside the box. It was all to answer a single question: What must happen in the next five years to secure Palmer’s future? From that exploratory and inspiring conversation, Chancellor and CEO Dennis
Marchiori, D.C., Ph.D. (`90), and his team distilled the core concepts that shape the College’s path forward. And it’s a path that Palmer alumni have already helped chart. The strategic plan is guided by three pillars that are essential to building long-term institutional strength: shared values, a sense of belonging, and the quality of learning. Now, Dr. Marchiori is laying out Palmer’s path forward and inviting alumni to advance the legacy they helped create.
Shared values
“Values only matter when they are collective,” says Dr. Marchiori. “We relied on qualitative and quantitative data to identify what we hold in common.” A campus- wide survey asked Trustees, employees, students, and alumni to score Palmer’s current performance and desired future state. The gaps — where aspirations exceeded reality — now define the to-do list.
How alumni can help
1. Speak up. When surveys arrive, lend your voice. This ensures our plans are calibrated by stakeholder feedback.
2. Model Palmer values. From evidence-based care to ethical leadership, living the brand in practice reinforces it for patients, communities, and prospective students.
3. Tell the story. Share Palmer news in professional circles and online through Palmer Plexus. Your amplification translates institutional values into public trust.
