Daniel Spencer, D.C. (`95)
Named after chiropractic’s founder, Daniel David Palmer, Dr. Spencer’s journey in chiropractic began at birth — literally. He received his first adjustment at less than an hour old. A proud graduate of Palmer College’s centennial class, his family tree is filled with Palmer alumni, including his father, brother, and sister. He applied to Palmer on his 21st birthday and has returned for Homecoming nearly every year since — missing only once, for the birth of his son. Dr. Spencer’s dedication to the profession is inseparable from his loyalty to
Palmer. As a committed philanthropist, recruiter, and leader, he ensures that current and future students receive the same transformative experience that shaped his own journey. He returns regularly to campus as a guest speaker and champions Palmer across his home state of Michigan. Whether speaking at conventions, mentoring prospective students, or representing the College at seminars, he consistently elevates Palmer’s visibility, reputation, and reach. On the national stage, he has helped shape the profession’s future as a past president of ChiroCongress, current chair of the Chiropractic Summit, and a member of the Leadership Committee for the Chiropractic Future Strategic Plan, which he also helped create.
Thomas Tiemeier
Tom Tiemeier’s contributions to Palmer College are enduring and impactful, reflecting more than four decades of dedicated service. Throughout his tenure, which included 32 years as Chief Financial Officer, his steady guidance helped shape pivotal milestones for the College — including the opening of the Florida campus — always with the goal of leaving Palmer stronger than he found it. Now six years into retirement, a recent visit to the Davenport campus left
Tiemeier in awe of the progress the College continues to make, reflecting with quiet pride on the lasting impact he helped shape. Beyond his financial leadership, Tiemeier personally stepped in to support students facing hardship, contributed to every major campaign during his tenure, and worked tirelessly to ensure the Board of Trustees and College leadership had the resources necessary to lead effectively. His dedication has driven impactful service to the College, grounded in a strong belief in its mission and a commitment to building a unified team to advance its future.
Steven Saro, D.C. (`88)
Dr. Saro began his professional education on the traditional pre-med path at the University of Miami, but a sports injury brought him to the team chiropractor, an experience that set him on the path to Palmer College. Today, his advocacy in politics has a powerful ripple effect for Palmer students. He played a key role in the recent passage of the Massachusetts Preceptor Bill and opioid legislation, two landmark achievements that expand clinical training opportunities and broaden access to non-opioid pain management options. A first-generation college student from a blue-collar family, the challenge
of affording his education left a lasting impression — one that now drives his philanthropy. Dr. Saro is a generous supporter of the Daring and Driven campaign and a regular donor to the Palmer Fund. That same commitment is reflected in how he represents the College. Dr. Saro leads by example, sharing his story with humility when friends or patients express interest in chiropractic. He often invites prospective students to join him at Homecoming, introduces them to Palmer leadership, and offers a glimpse into the life and purpose that a Palmer education can provide. Every student he has brought has gone on to choose Palmer College.
