THE INTELLIGENCE
The world’s first NFT-inspired beer in Singapore
Singapore-based artist, entrepreneur, and crypto advocate, Jaye Foo rolled out the world’s first NFT-inspired beers under his new craft label “Bored and Boozy.” Foo is a prominent figure in the region’s cryptocurrency and NFT scene. He made his debut as an NFT artist with the release of Wagmi under his label Parlour records in January 2022, then in May he launched The Parlour, Singapore’s first NFT bar and lounge. This has become the venue for web3 enthusiasts. Thinking of how one of his Mutant Ape NFT’s would taste led to the creation of
the first beer named Bored and Boozy. It is infused with sour plum, resulting in a sweet, sour beer with a light caramel aftertaste. “I’m inspired by the growing Web3 community, and I see the cross-pollination of different disciplines and arts into the NFT space,” says Foo. “I want Bored and Boozy to be an example of how the ownership of NFT’s and their IP can be monetized, and to be a beer label that connects people across communities.” Foo believes more services and products linking web3 and the physical world are on the horizon.
Aquafarm financing
Australian tech start-up Oceanfarmr is transforming the aquaculture industry with the launch of Farm to Buy. While agricultural farms have the option to use their land to secure financing, aquaculture farmers have found it more difficult to access capital as water-based farmland is not privately owned. Oceanfarmr’s Farm to Buy aims to help accelerate the industry’s growth into a $150bn to $300bn global industry. In this agreement, Oceanfarmr will provide farming resources. When the crops are sold, the proceeds are used to pay out the finance and the farmer will own the farming system. This allows the ocean farm to expand its production, without the fear of debt from traditional financing options. Founded by marine biologist and oyster farmer Ewan McAsh, the
Oceanfarmr app provides farmers with business insights and food production infrastructure. Apart from economic growth, improved livelihood, and job creation in the aquaculture, it aims to benefit the environment with sustainability outputs such as the capture of 39 tonnes of nitrogen, 298 tonnes of carbon, and 1,239 gigalitres of water filtered for every $10m invested in sustainable agriculture. Oceanfarmr is a digital farm operations systems built by farmers,
for farmers. It consolidates analytics, mapping, and practical advice to support farmers grow their businesses to become more efficient, streamlined, and more sustainable.
