Preparing for the future I

n my first year as your Worldwide president am happy to advise you that the Worldwide board along with strong support from TAD, EAME and APD has made significant progress towards strengthening and preparing our Society for the future. The various initiatives include conferences, trade shows and strategic planning workshops.

Due to factors out of our control some uncertainty will continue to challenge our clients and our own businesses; overcoming those challenges is what FCSI members working collaboratively can best deliver. I was truly inspired to participate in the recent Food Hotel Asia (FHA) HoReCa 2022 tradeshow in Singapore where Professional and Allied members shared and supported each other, with an air of optimism about the future. A very special thanks to the sponsors that made this possible for us.

The highlight was the significant

interest from non-FCSI consultants and manufacturers in wanting to explore the

option to be part of the only truly globally recognized independent foodservice consultancy association. I believe the following to be dominant

factors moving forward within the hospitality and foodservice industry: • Automation will play a significant role in delivering consistent high-quality products and services;

• Demand for central production facilities will grow; • Social sustainability will have equal importance and focus as ecological sustainability;

• Entertainment will be prominent in successful F&B operations; • Management consultant services will experience significant growth as stakeholders try to consolidate and increase their market value. With in-person trade shows and

meetings now firmly back on the agenda, 2023 promises to be an amazing year full of potential opportunities to share, support and inspire each other. The major events in the year begin with the FCSI TAD Symposium and the NAFEM trade show in Orlando, Florida; Fine Food in Sydney; then HostMilano and culminating with the APD Conference on ‘Building Resilience’ in the Margaret River region of Western Australia.

I would like to conclude with a simple

but powerful quote from one of my mentors Wayne Dyer: “Go for it now. The future is promised

to no one.”

Our future is created by what we

do today, not by what we do tomorrow. Accordingly, I encourage every FCSI member to take an active interest today in your respective divisions at APD, EAME and TAD so you can make the best of your FCSI membership in the future.
