THONET

Because of Covid-19, physical space and separation have taken on a whole new meaning. This is precisely the idea behind Studio Irvine and Thonet’s S 5000 Retreat: it creates room-in-room solutions, and offers the opportunity to work in private spaces – even when they are located in open plan ofices. The base module is available as either an upholstered one, two or three-seater unit on a tubular steel base without backrest and side panels. Matching arm and backrests or dividing panels – a brand new addition to the range – can be integrated into the seat frame, as needed, to provide privacy and block out noise. The panels form a frame with varying sizes of cushions. The furniture range also includes small tables, which can be screwed to the tubular steel frame. thonet.de/en

JUNCKERS

St Cecilia’s Hall, today a part of the University of Edinburgh, has been redeveloped by Page Park Architects, which has created a new, modern entrance with improved and updated walkways and circulation areas. Drawing inspiration from the original dark-coloured flooring in the building, the architects specified Junckers’s 140mm wide Black Oak Harmony as flooring and wall panelling in the new areas. In addition, Junckers’s Dark Coco Oil was used to restore the rich, brown colour of the original wood flooring in the concert room and gallery spaces. junckers.co.uk
