, NPA IN FOCUS
The National Pharmacy Association (NPA) has been appointed as a core participant in the Covid-19 public inquiry. This prestigious appointment places the NPA at the heart of Module 3, which focuses on the far-reaching impact of the pandemic on healthcare systems throughout the United Kingdom.
As a core participant, the NPA will have the privilege of making compelling opening and closing statements, examining the evidence presented during the inquiry and proposing thought-provoking questions to be posed to witnesses. This incredible opportunity allows us to shape the narrative surrounding Covid-19’s impact on our healthcare system and ensure the voice of community pharmacy is heard.
Led by Baroness Heather Hallett, a distinguished former Court of Appeal judge, this independent public inquiry has been established to examine the UK’s response to the Covid-19 pandemic and analyse its profound consequences. The inquiry’s ultimate objective is to glean invaluable lessons that will inform and shape preparations for future pandemics.
We firmly believe that our involvement in this historic inquiry is a defining moment for community
pharmacy. It is an occasion to celebrate and document the remarkable achievements of our sector during these challenging times. By actively participating in the inquiry, we aim to shed light on the pivotal role played by community pharmacies. Our hope is that this inquiry not only recognizes our industry's broad contribution to healthcare but also leads to concrete actions that enhance the resilience and responsiveness of our health service in the face of future public health crises.

NPA members were invited to a forum in April at Dunsilly Hotel, Antrim. This event provided an ideal platform to explore vital topics including workforce dynamics, pharmacy supervision, and the latest breakthroughs in medicines delivery. We extend our thanks to Locate a Locum, our event sponsor, who delivered a captivating presentation and a lively Q&A session on 'How to Find Compliant Locums Fast'.
