Simpsons Pharmacy in Galgorm has revolutionized the way patients access their medication through the introduction of an automated prescription collection point and an add-on service called Scriptlife, for which they were awarded the 'Innovation in the Community' award.


These innovative practices have not only improved access to medication but also increased the safety and security of the prescription process, while freeing up staff time to focus on providing greater care for their patients.


The automated prescription collection point was installed in 2020, allowing patients to collect their prepared prescriptions outside of normal opening hours. Building on the

success of the collection point, Scriptlife was installed in June 2022. Scriptlife software automates the process of managing prescriptions for collection. By implementing the innovative Scriptlife system, Simpsons Pharmacy has been able to free up their staff to provide greater care for their patients.


The Scriptlife system scans the prescription and allocates a location within the collection point or the


dispensary. When the prescription is ready for collection, the patient is sent an automatic notification on their mobile phone. This greatly reduces unnecessary telephone enquiries from patients on the readiness of their prescription.


The patient receives a 6-digit code on their mobile phone, which they can use to access the collection point like an ATM or give to a staff member in the pharmacy. The staff member can
