This year’s Pharmacist of the year award was presented to Patrick McMahon who has gone above and beyond his role at Bradley’s Pharmacy to make a positive impact across the Omagh community and the wider pharmacy profession.
Patrick is a leading example of how the role of a pharmacy extends well beyond the front doors of the premises into the wider community. He has hosted men’s healthcheck sessions in Omagh GAA clubrooms on

a voluntary basis and has also provided services voluntarily to SureStart events, where he conducted blood glucose and blood pressure checks and offered advice to expecting mothers.
Patrick’s support for sports groups in the local community has also included providing First Aid bags. These initiatives have had a significant impact on the community and demonstrate Patrick’s passion for helping people.
Patrick’s creativity and innovation in his role as a pharmacist has been outstanding. To alleviate the confusion that patients can experience when dealing with multiple medications, he has implemented the PillPac Plus pouch system into his pharmacy. This combines multiple medications into each pouch, with each containing the time and date on which the medication must be taken, providing a simpler and safer way for patients to take their medications, reducing confusion and ensuring compliance.
