WOLVERHAMPTON REVELLERS GET WARNING OVER FINES FOR SOILING

BEDFORD CABBIE FURY AS NO ACTION TAKEN ON FAKE NOTE
Taxi driver Harish Tha- par says police told him tha t no action could be taken after he collared a passen- ger who he said paid a fare with a fake £20 note. Mr Thapar, who runs DirectCars says he picked up twomen from an address in Kempston and took them to a pub in Bedford. He told Bedfordshire on Sunday: “The fare was £6.80 and they paid using a £20 note. I gave them £13.20 change and examined the note and could see the Queen’s head was missing when I held it up to the light. “I challenged them but they just got out of the car and went into the pub. I went into the pub and confronted them. “I asked them to pay me with other money but they said they had
none. I then asked them for my £13.20 back and never mind the fare, but
they
refused. “So I called the police. They arrived and spoke to the men, and I showed them the note. But they said there was nothing they could do about it and took away my note. “The men did have other money with them, they had two £10 notes which the police dis- covered. I think they knew it was a fake. “I am not happy about this, it is the fourth time in the recent past we have had fake notes.” A Bedfordshire Police spokesman said: “An officer did attend the pub in response to the inc ide nt, confis- cated the fake note and took the details of everyone concerned. other notes after the passenger had left the vehicle there was no proof that this particu- lar note had been passed by the passen- ger either on purpose or accidentally.
