Remigo: RemigoOne Neo Outboard


Slovenia’s Remigo is the company that first designed the popular ‘rudder style’ electric outboard, launching as the RemigoOne in 2021. The same ‘form-is-function’ design is now available with a higher power output in the RemigoOne Neo, which houses a 1.5 kW (≈4 hp) motor in the same size aluminum unibody of the original 1 kW (≈3 hp) model. It has an integrated battery, variable shaft height, a new 60-second Boost mode for wind, tide, or tight berthing, and an optional remote control for steering and throttle. The weight of the entire system, including the battery and quick release transom bracket, is 14.5 kg (32 lb.).


Inboard motors


Bosch: New plug and play EDM (Electric Drive for Marine)


The EDM (Electric Drive for Marine) system introduced at Metstrade takes advantages of that in “a new plug-and- play complete solution for electrified drive systems.” It combines drive components from Bosch with selected


third-party components and provides a ready-to-install inboard motor with gearbox, inverter, on-board charger, heat exchanger, control unit, and the necessary cooling pumps in a single compact unit. It produces 120 kW continuous power (160 hp) and weighs around 180 kg (≈ 400 lb) for an impressive power density of around 0.7 kW/kg. The EDM is promoted as a simple and efficient way for naval architects, system integrators, and builders to electrify boats and small ships. The company says it can be used for planing or displacement hulls and is adaptable for Z drives (stern drives), saildrives, inboard rigid shaft drives or outboard motors.


Evoy: Gen 2 Inboard makes giant leap in weight and price


We wrote in Plugboats a few months ago about how the synergy of electric boat motor companies Evoy and Vita collaborating with the Taiga electric jetski company is working to the benefit of all, and the 2nd generation Evoy BREEZE 120+ HP inboard unveiled at Metstrade is dramatic proof.


The Inboard Breeze ‘G2’ is a compact 90 kW continuous / 137 kW peak inboard motor (equivalent to 120 and 185 hp) that maintains peak output longer than the original Breeze, improving both acceleration and sustained speed in planing boats. It pairs with twin 24 kWh Taiga NMC battery packs that deliver 48 kWh of usable energy. The battery was originally developed for the gruelling conditions that Taiga’s snowmobiles endure, and the result is a technology that also operates extremely well in temperate and high heat conditions and can recharge from 10% to 80% in just 21 minutes.


The Gen2 Evoy motor can now be lighter partly because its cooling system doesn’t have to work as hard with the Taiga battery. That means more energy packed into lower overall weight – and economies of scale mean a lower price.
