We don’t force carriers to use digital freight matching

"On o th results o using digta feigt matcing tos i that i fes up time fo us t cae margn and reenu in othr ways rathr than js siing thre and trying t coer that day’s lod.”

— Adam Schaefer, Vice President of Operations for Simple Logistics

“We do a soft push toward digital freight matching with our carriers, and if we get resistance, we generally let them stick with whatever they’re comfortable with. I’m not going to make them go do anything that they’re not comfortable doing.”

Blast offers is a good option when a load isn’t getting covered

“If something we’ve tried to get a load covered and it’s not getting taken, we’ll use the Blast Offers in PowerBroker. We can specify how long we’ll wait for something to get taken before we move on from there to the next step. Maybe we put a load out through Blast Offers and set a deadline of ten hours. If we’re trying to book a week in advance, we send it out once a day. The last thing you want is to fill up a carrier’s inbox over and over with the same offer. That won’t help anyone and it tends to make you become invisible because you blend in with everyone else.”

Carrier interest is highest at beginning and end of driving shifts

“When we first started I turned every digital freight matching tool we used into a notification on my phone and found that early in the morning when drivers are about to start their shifts is when they start looking. My phone would go crazy at this time or right at the end of that shift and they’re done and looking for the next load. So we get the most interest and activity at the beginning and end of driving shifts.”

Digital freight matching is good for service levels

“Most of the carriers using digital freight matching platforms are high-level carriers. They’re going to be the ones who track their loads. They also are the ones who aren’t breaking down as often and have better service records. You eliminate double-brokers almost entirely.”

We can set it up to get driver info before releasing loads

“You can set up digital freight matching loads so that driver info or an ELD link is required before the rate con is approved. It might slow things down a little bit on the booking, but it seems that almost every customer wants tracking nowadays, so getting that driver info or at least an ELD to link up and track is vital.”
