CASE STUDY: SIMPLE LOGISTICS

S

imple Logistics is a 3PL based in St. Charles, Illinois that focuses on hauling freight for the food service industry. “IQ helps us across the board with critical

information both operationally and financially,” says Jeff Paul, Chief Financial Officer for Simple Logistics, “and this has supported our continued growth over the last few years.”

We closed the gap between operational numbers and the general ledger

“One of the things that we wanted at Simple Logistics was to get our financial data to match up to our operational data. We want our billing data that comes from the operational set to match our GL or to get it as close as we possibly can. There will always be some discrepancies from accessorial charges and when they get recorded, but overall our analysis through IQ helped us reduce the gap between operational data and the general ledger from 5% to 1.5%. In our banking relationships, this allows us to have much more confidence when we discuss our operational revenue versus our actual booked revenue. Obviously bankers want to see everything that’s on a financial statement. Given that we’re using all kinds of operational reports, we want those to match up to the financial statements so that the bankers feel confident about our numbers. This can be a critical issue when managing the business in terms of getting the funding needed to expand or improve the business.”
