If we identify certain commodities as having a low margin and a high claim, do we need to take some action to correct the situation, such as raising rates? Given that we focus on providing transportation to the food service industry, hauling temperature-sensitive commodities is a good example. IQ allows us to see the numbers and make calculated decisions in terms of profit to risk. We could look into this without IQ, but it takes a lot more time and effort to get the right data arranged in the right way. With IQ, we can set it up so that it’s easy to view. We can accomplish data analysis goals much more quickly using IQ.”


We can find loads that are paying below target


“This is a cutthroat business and one danger is letting margins go too high. We want to be careful that we’re not making ourselves vulnerable to having prices to shippers so high that someone else comes in and takes the freight away by undercutting us. If we’re paying carriers below our target, we want to know, because we might need to reduce the amount we’re charging our customers to stay competitive. We track this with reports on a weekly and monthly basis. Before having IQ, we didn’t have this level of visibility.”
