We can see how miscellaneous other charges and costs affect margin

“IQ helps us report on total other charges and total other pay to show how much we’ve charged or paid out on detention, lumpers, and such. This gives us a more detailed look at the business. We can analyze data now in ways that we couldn’t before. We could always see our margin on a load, but without IQ, it wasn’t easy to see how detention, lumpers, or other extraneous charges are affecting the margin. Now we can view that in more detail. With this detail, we can also have conversations with shippers and carriers who are notorious for large accessorial charges. This is one more way we can help lower transportation costs through analysis.”

IQ dashboards provide operations personnel with performance metrics

“We have multiple dashboards that we created for operations. We put some of them on display on TVs in the operations area and personnel also have access to dashboards on their computers. We push out numbers on revenue, load count, and margin so that people can track their performance based on financial data from IQ. That’s how they see our weekly goals for load count, margin, and margin percent. We track it three times a day - morning, noon, and when we go home.”

Our business has grown

"Shipers and cariers have startd t requs or IQ repots moe fequnty a i puts a snapshot o or partnrship in font o thm.”

“Since we’ve started showcasing numbers on a daily basis, we have more than doubled in size. There are many factors that play into that, but the fact remains that making IQ financial performance information highly visible is one component of it. We are in a competitive industry and allowing our team to see achievement on an hourly basis helps drive healthy internal competition.”

IQ helps us see team metrics

“IQ has helped us ensure that we allocate each load to the specific operations team or pod that was responsible for that load. We see when a load has been allocated to the wrong pod and we can fix it before it gets to the income statement. We’re working toward having a distinct P&L per team. As we have grown into multiple teams, being able to tie profit-and-loss numbers to specific teams has helped us make growth decisions company-wide.”
