CASE STUDY: ATLANTIC LOGISTICS A
tlantic Logistics, a 3PL based in Jacksonville, Florida, offers both truckload and LTL services for flatbed, refrigerated, drayage, and specialized freight. “Once we started using digital freight matching,
we quickly learned that we were able to cover loads even when we didn’t have staff on hand,” says Alex Rodriquez, Director of IT and Automation Services for Atlantic Logistics. “Essentially we can book freight all night long.”
We got started by giving dispatchers the easy loads first
“We worked with our dispatchers that have semi- contracted freight and a pool of dedicated carriers and instructed them to allow the carriers to book the loads themselves. One of our partners gives us the option to offer reloads, so carriers have the ability to book continuous moves by themselves, and it can be executed 24/7. If there are exceptions—loads that need some manual attention or special requirements—you can remove those from the mix.”
We stressed that we’re not using the technology to replace people
“We let our people know that we’re not getting rid of their jobs. We’re using technology to help them do their jobs more efficiently.”
The McLeod DFM API is vital
“The McLeod DFM API has had a big impact for us. We use outside vendors to handle a lot of our digital freight matching. As soon as the load is booked and the carrier says they can meet all of the requirements, they just have to handle the rate confirmation and they’re on their way. The ease of use and the streamlining of the process are great.”
We started establishing semi-dedicated carriers
“We noticed the same carriers taking the same loads consistently, so we reached out to make them semi- dedicated carriers on lanes, letting them know in advance we have these for the next two or three weeks. It helps build the relationship.”
Digital freight matching works best with tech-friendly carriers
"Onc we startd using digta feigt matcing, we quickly larnd that we were al t coer lod een whn we didn’t have staff on hand. Esentialy we can bok feigt al nigt long.”

“Digital freight matching works best with tech-forward- leaning carriers. You don’t have to worry about them being apprehensive to the technology. They’re already involved in tech and aware of it.”
