NADC Covid-19 Update
During the Covid-19 epidemicNADC has been more active than ever in representing the interests ofDrainage contractors. Fromthe outset itwasNADC that ensured therewas Government recognition of drainage contractors as providing an essential service, which apart fromprotecting the industry, ensured that children of contractors could remain in
school.NADC then issued guidance on all theGovernment support schemes as well as howto operate safely and has since issued two further updates to theGovernment schemes
guidance.NADC engagedwith Government (in tandemwith a number of other organisations) in respect of support for smaller businesses and providing flexibility in the furlough scheme to help get people back towork. The announcement of the Bounce Back Loan Scheme and flexible Furlough Scheme arrangements being brought forward to 1st
Julywerewarmlywelcomed.Most recentlyNADC has announced that face to face training is recommencing. Sowhat next? –Well it is important that the industry is prepared for any future lockdown should a second spike in the pandemic occur andNADC is already looking at this. In the meanwhile theAssociation is considering what it can do to stimulate demand for the industry against a backdrop of a sluggish
recovery.This is focusing on activities as varied as CCTV surveying and interceptor servicing! As everwe are here formembers to help themwith any queries or issues in these

The development of the newSHEASewer and Drainage qualification that offers a CSCS card for drainage contractors is on track for launch in late
summer.NADCwill be giving priority tomembers to book on courses for this qualification as demand is projected to be extremely high. Formore information please contact
jayne@nadc.org.uk NADC is piloting a newapp thatwill help member contractors in locating the nearest water hydrantwith value added information, with the potential to extend this to the nearestwaste
site.Watch this space!! NADCwill be forming a newCCTV and Rehab
Committee in the comingmonths to add to the existing Environment andWaste Committee and training andQualification Committee. TheNADC Environment andWaste Committee is engagingwith a variety of stakeholders on the issues associatedwith highway gullymaintenance andwaste management. The outcome of thisworkmay well, in due course, impact on allTanker operators that are involvedwith this discipline. Work continues on the launch plans for DrainSafe atDrain Expowhichwill be held alongside Flood Ex at the Peterborough Arena on 24th – 25th February 2021 (Coronavirus permitting!). Landia’s got talent with new recruit George
To helpmeet demand for its proven range of pumps and mixers, Landia has appointed GeorgeDakin as a new Technical Sales Engineer. The 23-year-old,with anAgricultural Engineering BSc (Honours), has gained valuable industry experience since graduating fromHarperAdamsUniversity. George hasworkedwith both tractor and agricultural tillage manufacturers, aswell as in turnkey post-harvest storage solutions of combinable grains and root crops. PaulDavies, Landia’s KeyAccountManager, said:“For somebody in his early 20s,George already has tremendous knowledge and hands-on experience of the farming industry – but hewill also be utilising his skills for the numerous other market sectors thatwe provide pumping andmixing solutions for.”
