Customising the Kit to Fit

Launched in 2019, theAndyGuest 4-Series jetter has proved popular due to its improved torque at lowrevs, low-noise and lightweight design.Arecent projectwith JetAire Services demonstrates themanufacturer’s ability to adapt standardmachines to suit the specific requirements of the customer. Jet Aire Servicesmanage a large fleet of drainage vehicles including van-pack units, jet- vac tankers and larger recycler tanker units, undertaking awide range of drainage cleaning, repair, remediation and installationwork. One of the largest drainage contractors in the North of England, the company’sworkload includes plannedmaintenance contractswith utility companies such asNorthumbrianWater andwell-known brands includingMarks and Spencer and RedrowHomes.Despite the

current climate, Charlie Kirk,Director at Jet Aire, says the business has proved “remarkably resilient” through these tough times. Certainly resilient enough to go aheadwith an order for six newjettingmachines fromAndy Guest Jetters, which include three new3-Series petrol jetters, a 4-Series Stack jetter and two customised 4-Series diesel jetters. Charlie explains that the firmhas enjoyed a good relationshipwith the jettermanufacturer overmany years: “We’ve been using Andy Guest units since 1999 and trust the build quality and performance of themachines. We keep our units operational for as long as possible, often swapping theminto newvans, so reliability is paramount.” The first of the customised 4-Series has been with the company for twomonths andwas

specifically redesigned for use in a 5-tonne van. A customframewas constructed to site the larger 4-cylinder Yanmar engine and Speck 60/250 pump. The frame has been raised for improved operational safety and to allowfor more storage space on the floor of the vehicle. The unitwas also suppliedwith a non-standard 1000Lwater tank. While the pump capacity of the unit is the same as the standard 4-Series, producing 3625PSI @13GPM, Jet Aire opted for the larger engine and pump tomeet the rigours of their workload. “It’s to staymore on top of the job,” explains Charlie. “The higher specificationmachine offers plenty of power and increased performance when tackling everything fromcleansing and clearing blockages to root cutting.” “The newmachine has been excellent. In the recent past,we’ve built jettingmachines in- house but realised that using Andy Guest units ismore cost-effective.We fit out all our jetting vans to an extremely high standardwith the right equipment, whichmeans lesswear and tear over time.” JonWoods, salesmanager at Andy Guest Jetters, added: “It’s a pleasure toworkwith Charlie and the teamat Jet Aire.We have a great engineering teamat Andy Guest that are extremely skilled at customising equipment to suit clients’ requirements. We’re really pleased with the results.”
