Visualising works in the smaller bore pipelinemarket
Just one year ago Picote Solutions launched its latest high-speed pipeline cleaning systemon to the drainagemarket, theMini Cleaner. Aimed at the domestic drainage and plumbingmarkets in particular, the Picote MiniCleaner is the company’s firstmachine specifically designed for cleaning and cutting operations through P-traps andmultiple bends in theDN32 toDN75 (1¼”to 3”) range. With typicalwaste pipes being as small as 32 mm(1¼”) diameter inmany countries, this machine offers the ideal solution for pipeline cleaning. Aswith other Picotemachine designs theMini Cleaner has a flexible two-part shaftwith a rotating inner core towhich the cleaning heads are attached and a stationary outer casing that ensures the operator’s hands do notmake contactwith rotating parts during the cleaning operation,which improves operator safety and flexibility compared with other typical cleaningmachines currently on themarket. The newhighly flexible spring outer casing is revolutionary and has changed the plumbing
market.The spring casing is also durable, flame,
abrasion and chemically resistantwith a high continuous service temperature. Designed for high speed descaling, reinstatements and blockage removal, the MiniCleaner also has the flexibility to handle multiple 90o bends even in the smaller diameter pipes. Furthermore, safety has been a core aspect of the designwith the unit boasting as standard a SafetyClutch, 16m(50
ft) of 8mm(⅓”) rotating shaft housed inside the specialised outer casing and a shielded foot pedal control that allows the operator to start and stop themachinewithout the need to remove a hand fromthe shaft during operation. The company’sMiniMiller systemis awell- establishedworkhorse in the pipeline cleaning, cutting and liner reopeningmarket andworks in pipelines fromDN50 toDN150 (2”to 6”) diameter. Both units can also be utilised for application of the Picote BrushCoating™Systemfor pipeline rehabilitation. Workingwith Picote’s specialist cutting tooling the systems have established a reputationwith contractors for efficiency and speed on site. Feedback fromcontractors both globally and in Finland,where PicoteOy offers major contracting services, showed a demand for both systems to have the capability to observe the operations in actionwithout the need to utilise a separateCCTV system, possibly requiring a second access point for camera usage. This has led to the development of an
integratedCCTV capability for bothmachines whichwill eliminate the need for a secondary CCTV systemto be used during cleaning, cutting or brush coating operations. Therefore, Picote has recently launched upgraded versions of the twomachines known as the PicoteMiniMiller+Cand the PicoteMiniCleaner+C. The camera systems comprise a full colour cameramounted on 30m(98 ft) of umbilical whichwill enable all operations to be observed fully.On bothMillers the colour self- levelling camera also carries an integrated 512 hz sonde to enable the unit to be tracked and the pipelinemapped as andwhen necessary. The PicoteMiniCleaner+Cutilises a slightly smaller colour camera to enable negotiation of the smaller diameter pipes inwhich the systemgenerally operates, includingDN50‘P’ Traps and bends.
