Collaboration promotes innovation in water resource security
Two leading organisations in thewater industry are collaborating on webinars to demonstrate global innovation taking place in the field ofwater resourcesmanagement. In a first for the sector, BritishWater is partnering the International WaterAssociation (IWA) through itsUK governingmember, the IWAUK committee, on the live presentations,whichwill reveal technological developments to protectwater resources to an international audience. Topics and case studieswill includeUK and international policy and strategy initiatives, the importance of regional groups and stakeholder engagement, integratedwatermanagement programmes,water efficiencymeasures and regional resilience planning. Participantswill also hear frominternationalwater resourcemanagement experts about their experiences ofCovid-19 andwill have the opportunity to networkwith industry peers. All participantswill be invited to contribute to awritten outputwhich will be used to support IWAmemberswhowork in this field. The InternationalWaterAssociation is the largestmembership association in the globalwater sectorwithmembers in over 140 countries. It contributes to the development of knowledge and proactively promotes the uptake of innovation by bridging the gap
between science and practice and policy and implementation. IWAUK committee chair BenjaminTamsaid:“We’re delighted to be partneringwith BritishWater for these exciting

Borealis and Borouge, support project to provide sustainablewater supplies to people inMozambique
Over 50,000 people inMozambique, one of theworld’s poorest countries, are benefiting froma project that has significantly improved the quality and reliability of theirwater supply.Water & Sanitation for the Urban Poor (WSUP), a long-standing partner for Water for theWorld, initiated and implemented the project as part of itswider programme inMozambique. The projectwas financed by Borealis, throughWater for theWorld, and delivered in conjunction with a range of partner organisations. Key partners included FIPAG,Mozambique’s nationalwater infrastructure owner; 16 small scale operators (SSOs),who run local water systems on FIPAG’s behalf and engage directlywith the low- income consumerswho receive thewater supply services; and POLITEJO,whichmanufactured theHDPE pipes used to upgrade the network, employing Borealis’PE100material and Borouge,who supported the project by providing technical trainings.
