Ridicule was common as many, including my parents, would say to me   At this time I had become acquainted with only a few outside collectors and was hearing that others across the country were collecting and that a California couple were planning to begin publishing a monthly magazine in 1969. This magazine helped in establishing contacts across the country via mail which became an easy  (CD) numbers. Catalogs by Tibbets and Millhollands were studied particularly  worth more than that!)

For a young man of twelve, that I will refer to as “Mr. R”, collecting began with a clap of thunder wherein lightning had struck a pole near his home on June 22, 1973. He would ask the lineman as he changed out the pole for the cross arm holding the U-648 Victors, beginning his collection activities. The hunt was on  grandmother out of some that she had on her window sill. A luxury that I did not have that he did was the fact that his parents jumped in and became very active in searching for insulators for him.
