Howard’s Desktop Goodbye


This is it. Our last issue. Linda and I have published Crown Jewels for 16 years, since January 2003. After 192 monthly issues, I’ll make just a few comments.


First, this is the largest issue we ever produced. Normally the magazine has been 64 pages in size. This one is 80! The good news... there’s more content than ever for you to enjoy. Unfortunately, even with 25% more pages we were not able to get everything into this issue. If your story didn’t make it, we apologize and hope you’ll submit it to the new owner, Shaun Kotlarsky.


Second, we know some folks are disappointed that Crown Jewels will no longer be  the only option other than going bankrupt. We hope our readers will understand, and we encourage everyone to continue subscribing with Shaun.


Third, Crown Jewels survived this long only because of those who contributed articles, provided grants (like Tommy Bolack), purchased advertising, donated cash & insulators & postage stamps, and faithfully subscribed. That’s all of you! Your support and friendship made our endeavors worthwhile. Thank you.

Recently, Linn’s Stamp News reported that rare postage stamps were consistently bringing record prices at auction. But, the same article reported, those record prices were less than what the stamp owners would have earned had they simply invested their money in anything that earned at the     lose! And both you and the hobby will be better for it.
