Helm-Hand Exchange While Jibing


Step 1 Flip the tiller extension toward the leeward side of the boat and pull the tiller away from the boom. Move your aft foot across the boat while trimming in the mainsheet.


Step 2 Duck under the boom facing forward, with your feet on either side of the cockpit for balance, and steer behind your back.


Step 3 Take the mainsheet in your forward hand as you sit down on the new windward side. Bring your sheet hand back to the tiller once it is centered, and hold both sheet and tiller extention in same aft hand. Complete the hand-hold transition by taking the mainsheet in your forward hand.
