JOSEPHIDES ABTA CHAIRMAN
NOEL “ABTA members
have an incredibly important role to play informing, advising and
safeguarding their customers”
LEADER Safe summer
The summer season is now in full swing with millions of British holidaymakers enjoying themselves overseas. The vast majority of these trips go ahead without any issues, but unfortunately problems do occur. ABTA members have an incredibly important role to play informing, advising and safeguarding their customers. To help you do this we have put together useful advice, videos and literature, which you can share with customers and suppliers. The main issues covered are swim safety, quad bikes, travel insurance, fraud, healthy holidays and balcony safety. The campaigns have been put together with input from health and safety experts, the Foreign Offi ce and police. Please take the time to share the information from
abta.com; it could make a huge diff erence to customers’ lives.

It is fair to say that the general election produced a result that few saw coming. However, it provides a real opportunity for the industry, which retains strong support across all political parties. We need to engage proactively to capitalise on the broad support that exists for travel and tourism to achieve our policy aims. ABTA’s #valuetourism campaign outlined our
priorities ahead of the election, both on Brexit and domestic issues, and our public aff airs team will be using all of their Westminster contacts to the full. On that note, congratulations to ex-ABTA staff member Luke Pollard who was elected as MP for Plymouth Sut on and Devonport. I am sure he will prove an invaluable advocate for the industry in his new role.
