REFUGE DU MONTENVERS, CHAMONIX, FRANCE This remote Alpine refuge hotel reopens July 2017 after a complete refurbishment by its owner, Terminal Neige, an offshoot of Maisons & Hotel Sibuet. The original refuge, at 6,725ft, was built in 1880. It now has 12 double rooms with views of the Mer de Glace, two suites, five spacious family rooms and a dormitory (sleeping 10) under the eves, along with two restaurants and a bar.
