Malta gears trade activity around raft of new flights

Malta Tourism Authority is ramping up its trade activity, particularly with agents in regions from which flights or capacity have been added.


Trade events are planned for this month in the southwest, south Wales and southern Ireland ahead of routes starting from Exeter, Cardiff and Cork. Ryanair will fly twice-weekly


to Malta from each of the three airports next summer. Capacity will also rise on


existing routes from Manchester, Birmingham and Stansted. The tourism authority is planning face-to-face training for agents in these areas ahead of the January peak selling season. Agents will also be trained on


recently added routes to Malta. These include twice-weekly Ryanair and weekly Jet2 services from Belfast, introduced in November 2017; a three-times- a-week easyJet service from Southend, added last winter; a
