Crystal Serenity to install 38 penthouses during refit
Crystal Cruises is to reduce capacity on Crystal Serenity to make room for 36 Seabreeze Penthouses and two Seabreeze Penthouse Suites. The ship’s capacity will drop from 1,070 to 980. The alterations will be made in dry-dock this month, during which the vessel will also be prepared to host a Broadway- style show featuring songs from the musicals Rent, Something Rotten! and West Side Story.

Uniworld adds extension to Oberammergau Passion Play
newest ship, Enchanted Princess, will be named in Southampton in June 2020. It will be the line’s first vessel to be named in the UK since Royal Princess in 2013. The ship will then sail out of the Mediterranean, with seven-night cruises starting at £1,699. The line’s 2020 programme also
features 28 summer sailings in the Caribbean, 65 in Japan, 63 in Australia, more than 130 in Alaska and 16 in Canada and New England. Itineraries in Europe, Canada,
New England and the Caribbean go on sale on November 8, followed by Alaska and Japan

Uniworld has added a pre-cruise extension on SS Beatrice’s Delightful Danube sailings in 2020 to coincide with the Oberammergau Passion Play, which takes place once every 10 years and dates back to 1634. The four-day extensions are available between May 17 and September 9, 2020, and are priced £2,899 per person.

Mike Evans to retire after 27 years with Fred Olsen
Fred Olsen Cruise Lines’ head of sales, Mike Evans, is to retire in the spring after 27 years with the company. Meanwhile, the line has promoted trade support executive Kirsty Reid to account manager. She will start her new role on November 19, reporting to sales manager Mathew Foxcroft.

MSC Cruises has launched MasterChef Juniors at Sea. The kids’ cooking contest will feature across the fleet from March, following a trial on MSC Seaview. Its MasterChef at Sea programme for adults launched last year.
