Similar to a book review, the main purpose of a fi lm review is to give an opinion on the fi lm and help the viewer decide whether they want to see it.

It then usually mentions the things that the reviewer did and did not like about the fi lm and if they would recommend it. Sometimes the reviewer also awards a star rating to the fi lm.
