inherited from and shared with his father as they would spend Saturdays together wandering around their nearest Arthur Rackham’s store selecting a wine to accompany the family’s Sunday roast, albeit “as a youngster, I was more fascinated by the labels than the contents …” Then, in 1979, Simon’s parents invested in a Newsagents in Chichester, West Sussex and three years later, his father turned a passion into a business by dividing the shop to create a space for wine. He named that side of the business, Luscombes and so it all began. Luscombes Wine Merchants grew into a successful business
in its own right; Simon joined and together they brought the business into a new era by launching their own website, trading as Quay Wines. “ In 2013 I married my lovely wife, Jill. Present day Chichester had lost its appeal to us and we started to explore other areas, other opportunities. We fell in love with Kingsbridge; bought a house, then Number 60 Fore Street came on to the market and we fell in love with that, too!” Having decided to make the big move and start afresh in Devon opening the new shop under the online name, Quay
