Enjoy local cheese and wine at Sharpham Wine’s new home on

the Sandridge Barton estate. After 40 years on the Sharpham Estate just outside Totnes, the vineyard has now moved downriver to a Stoke Gabriel- based vineyard that has been producing grapes for the award-winning Sharpham wines for years. Staff and equipment have now settled in, ready to serve, provide tastings of the wines and take you on tours of the vines in their new location. An exciting new visitor centre has also been created at a former dairy farm on the Sandridge Barton estate. https://sharpham.com/

Visit a restored Elizabethan House. On a quiet street in Plymouth’s historic Barbican is a rare example of a restored 1500s Elizabethan house. The historic property underwent major restoration as part of

the Mayflower 400 commemorations and is well worth a visit. Now open on Saturdays and Sundays for multi-sensory audio-visual tours around the rooms to ‘meet’ the house’s first owner, a washerwoman and a wig maker, and get a glimpse into the past when Plymouth was a thriving global port. After all that historical information, perhaps complete a day trip to the Barbican with a drink or meal at the many cafés, bars and restaurants that line the cobbled streets – or even a gin cocktail or two at Plymouth Gin Distillery in the Refectory Bar and Cocktail Lounge.

On the edge of Ivybridge lies the lovely Lukesland, a

24-acre family-run garden. Lying in the picturesque valley of Addicombe Brook, Lukesland is well-known and loved for its range of flowering shrubs and specimen trees, some dating from Victorian times. The garden is based around numerous fun to explore islands and bridges, on tranquil ponds and cascading waterfalls. Lukesland boasts many award-winning champion trees, and tree lists are available on request in the tearoom. The tearoom is now fully open for business post Covid, and presently displaying an exhibition of Dartmoor paintings by a local artist. www.lukesland.co.uk
