OUCH! Watch out for those netles
This often invasive plant armed with a sting and a weed-like appearance is commonly detested but vital to our invertebrate population attracting aphids, caterpillars, ladybirds both as a food source and protection.
If you feel the need to reduce your nettle patch – don’t forget they are in fact edible plants full of vitamins and nutrients which can be used in tea, soups and in other herbal remedies.
They’re also a great source of nitrogen for your plants which can be steeped in water for 3-4 weeks and then diluted (to the colour of weak tea) and applied to your leafy greens in the garden.
