14 Gorgeous Gardens!


This is the season of colourful blooms and there are many opportunities to visit a range of different gardens in the area many of which are being opened for charity. We’ve highlighted a few ideas but check the websites for more ideas.

11 June Village Open Gardens Olchard, Kingsteignton Includes several splendid largely herbaceous gardens, a walled garden, a water garden and two orchards where Thatcher’s chief cider maker will conduct tours with samples. Teas and refreshments available. 12 - 5pm. Opengardens.co.uk


Local hospices St Luke’s (Plymouth) and Rowcroft (Torquay) are both celebrating their 40th


anniversaries with


many local gardens offering a rare opportunity to open their doors to raise funds for these vital and precious charities.

14 & 15 May and 18 & 19 June Spitchwick Manor Newton Abbot 6½ acre garden with extensive beautiful views. 11am – 4.30pm.


17 & 18 May Avenue Cotage Ashprington, Totnes Once part of the Sharpham Estate with views of the River Dart this is an 11 acre garden of mature and young trees and shrubs which has been replanted over the last 30 years. 10.30am – 4.30pm.


28 & 29 May Abbotskerswell Open Gardens A group of 8 gardens including village allotments offering a wide range of planting styles and innovative landscaping. Pay one admission price with admission to all on one day. Book online or turn up on the day. 1pm – 5pm.


4 & 5 June Higher Orchard Cotage, Marldon, Paignton 2 acre garden with generous colourful herbaceous borders and wildflower meadows in lovely country- side with sculpture and art. 11am - 5pm.


10, 11 & 12 June


Bramble Torre, Dittisham Beautiful 3 acre garden following a rambling stream through a steep valley. Book online or turn up on the day. 2 – 5pm.


19 & 20 June


Teignmouth Open Gardens A group of 13 gardens open in the Teignmouth area with a wide range of garden styles from small manicured gardens to large wildlife havens. Pay one admission price with admission to all on one day. Book online or turn up on the day. 11am – 5pm.
