FESTIVAL LINE UP by Lucy Hingston

ometimes music is the only medicine that the heart and soul need – and surely

never has it been more needed than now! The 25th Anniversary Dart Music Festival is fast approaching to offer up its antidote to the last 2 years. The 6th, 7th & 8th of May will once again be ground zero for three days of musical magnificence, with the added kicker of it being the festival’s 25th birthday! Let’s just take a moment to let

that sink in, shall we? 25 years. TWENTY FIVE! I find it hard to remember a time when I wasn’t eagerly anticipating the three days in May when we give our town, and ourselves, over to the music. From those early days when Nigel Way and his cohorts would go door-to-door and shop-to-shop, handing out sweets and asking for donations and sponsorship. When Rob & Di Lyon, and the rest of those

fearless pioneers, sat down and decided that Dartmouth needed MUSIC! From those tiny acorns, the mighty oak of the Dart Music Festival has grown. Our terrific team of vital

volunteers have ensured that there will be something for everyone

“There will be something for everyone at the 2022 Dart Music Festival”

at the 2022 Dart Music Festival, the full details of which can be found on the website – www. dartmusicfestival.co.uk - and in the official programme which can be purchased at various outlets around the town and downloadable on the Dart Music

Festival app available from your app store for only £4.99. In the meantime, here are just

a few 25th birthday celebration tasters to whet your appetite. If a weekend of rocking out is what you live for, then get ready to go crazy to the strains of The Long Run, The Blue Highways and Torbay’s very own Riviera Dogs. Joanna Cook and Marnie will be bringing the funk and soul, and Jake Martin’s own brand of Folk- Punk will blow you away. The pop stylings of Haytor are guaranteed to get you on the dance floor, and The Barefoot Bandit’s inimitable ska sound will make you glad you wore your dancing pants! The gypsy swing stylings of La Vie En Rose will take you back to bygone era, and The Gentlemen of Few’s bluegrass sound is one to be savoured. Alternatively, swing to the sound of the BRNC Big Band, or chill with the acoustic sounds
