training, which enables them to deliver an increased range of clinical interventions and procedures as well as prescribing in a pre-hospital environment. When every second counts, getting the specialist skills of their critical care doctors and specialist paramedics to the scene is paramount. Devon Air Ambulance operates with
two emergency helicopters enabling it to deliver expert time-critical care to patients wherever they may be; however, flying a patient by helicopter is not always the best way to transport them. Sometimes, Devon Air Ambulance
paramedics or doctors might arrive at the scene of an incident and, after thorough assessment and treatment of the patient, may decide to travel with them by land ambulance where they are able to monitor their condition and administer further pain relief if needed throughout their onward journey to hospital. Whichever route is decided upon, it will
always be based upon providing the best possible outcome for the patient. Devon is a huge county with two epic

Known as the ripple effect, drivers, passengers, their families, work colleagues and friends as well as passers-by and emergency responders can all feel the lasting effects of such experiences.
