60 “There are just so many different areas where
breathing and the control of breath is really important.” Jeremy has high hopes of starting a local choir, if
there is demand for one, he said. “Singing is also good for your mental wellbeing because you are part of something communal, part of a team. It’s very much like sports – you often don’t need to be brilliant at something to enjoy it, because you are having a shared experience with other people. “I know there are choirs around here that people are
already enjoying, but I think more people should have an opportunity to sing – even people who think they can’t. “I don’t think “can’t” exists with singing because
you are only saying they can’t sing as well as the best people, rather than they can’t sing at all. “Everyone can sing, and should sing.” He chuckled: “We are having work done on our home and hearing the builders here sing full throated pop music reminds you that people just love singing. Jeremy qualified: “I’m definitely not saying they’re
going to be the next Tom Jones, but that’s the point, it doesn’t really matter, they just love doing it.” It’s not only the builders who love to belt out a good
tune, Jeremy couldn’t imagine life without singing. “I’m very passionate about it, it’s been my whole life
really. “I’ve been very lucky to be able to do something that I love every day.”•
