9th December – NATIVITY


Cert. U. Comedy/Family A seasonal treat starring Martin Freeman and a troop of gap-toothed, wide-eyed, body-popping and very funny kids......This Christmas, primary school teacher Paul Maddens is charged with producing the school’s nativity play. Competing against the posh rival school for the honour of best reviewed show in town, the stakes are raised when Paul idly boasts that his ex-girlfriend Jennifer, a Hollywood Producer, is coming to see his show with a view to turning it into a film. The only trouble is, they haven’t spoken in years. Maddens suddenly finds himself a local celebrity and at the centre of quarrelling parents and over-excited children desperate in their bid for fame and fortune.

Non-members welcome. Please note: chairs will be spaced so social distancing measures can be observed in the hall where necessary. HISTORY OF DAVID COPPERFIELD Cert. PG. 10th February – SUMMERLAND Cert. 12A. Drama/ Romance In Summerland, the living is a little too easy to raise dramatic stakes -- but Gemma Arterton’s performance adds some much-needed extra heat. A reclusive Englishwoman opens her heart to a young evacuee as World War II rages across the channel. Made with great panache, this is a real gem of understated poignancy; about summers as lovely as they are fraught.
