Smoke ventilation and control ‘with a difference’

The building construction environment has dramatically changed following the Grenfell Tower incident, with its consequent impact on everyone, meaning increased attention to, and consideration of, compliance with fire safety control measures. sfS (Smoke & Fire Safety) says its speciality is smoke ventilation and control systems, which it ‘does with a difference’. The company explained: “We offer design, installation, and commissioning of a range of different systems, such as combined systems for basement smoke ventilation and mechanical smoke control, pressurisation smoke ventilation and control systems, site surveys and smoke damper replacements, car park smoke and environmental systems, smoke applications ductwork, ‘installation only’, combined smoke ventilation and environmental systems, and natural smoke control systems. “What differentiates us is that we do

GPT Consult is expanding its team

Two new AEs have joined Authorising Engineering and technical advisory business, GPT Consult, while a new leadership structure at the company will take effect from this month. The business said: “The Healthcare Estates Conference 2023 will be the first chance to meet our complete team in one place at Stand C72. We are pleased to announce that Louise Clark and Mahesh Mistry will join our team of AEs alongside Graham Taylor, Paul Crothers, and Roy Ridler.

“Louise is joining from Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, and will take up the role of Technical director, while Mahesh arrives from Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, and will support the team as Senior engineer.

“Finally, to support the expanded AE team, Alan Gates will join as managing director. Having a larger, more agile team makes GPT Consult the ideal partner to provide support on any size of Trust or other capital project.”

Vistamatic and BetweenGlassBlinds are looking forward to welcoming show visitors to Stand C15. Vistamatic said: “As the leading privacy vision solution manufacturer, our products are used in over 90% of UK hospitals, and numerous additional medical facilities. From the classic Vista Max and Vista Max XL, to the Vista Slide, our panels allow discreet observation while maximising privacy.” Vistamatic’s newest product – a vision panel printed with informative graphics and text, will be shown. It said: “The information being part of the vision panel avoids the need for lights being fitted, which saves time and money, and is especially useful in areas that need warnings, such as for laser or lead and laser protection.” Vistamatic will also highlight its ‘bespoke design service, Vista Art’. Via its Vista Art vision panels, ‘any type of custom graphics can be applied’. Another new addition is the Double-Sided Vista Art panel, which the company says ‘works with both the décor of public spaces such as corridors, and patient rooms – which may have different design schemes’. BGB’s ‘innovative’ cordless integral

blind system, meanwhile, ‘offers a viewing area on a much larger scale’. The blinds are hermetically sealed between two glass panes, ‘making them safe from moisture, dust, dirt, and odours’. BGB added: “Exceptionally user- friendly, the discreet system is perfect for observation areas in hospitals, care homes, and other facilities.”
