patent-pending design that utilises silver-ion antimicrobial technology to inhibit microbial growth. BioClad said: “Microbes coming into contact with a BioPod unit are instantly suppressed, with 80% eradicated within the first 15 minutes of contact, increasing to 99.99% after just two hours.” To further their hygienic qualities,
BioPod IPS units feature an 18 mm closed-cell PVC BioCore. The use of closed-cell technology ‘ensures the
units are 100% waterproof and insusceptible to rot and water damage’. Using 18 mm PVC also makes the units ‘durable, rigid, and made to last’. A recent product introduction is Raphael – dubbed ‘the next evolution in clinical washbasin IPS units’. Raphael combines BioClad’s ‘unique’ BioCote panel technology – designed to reduce bacterial growth, with Angel
and the Dinner is also an excellent networking opportunity. As IHEEM President, I’m honoured to have been asked to select the nominated charity for this year’s Gala Awards – Lymphoma Action, dedicated to supporting those affected by lymphoma and other related illnesses. Te charity’s President and Director of Research at Te Christie in Manchester, Professor John Radford, will discuss its work at the Dinner. Te exhibition hall, meanwhile, will
showcase the latest products and services from over 220 leading suppliers and manufacturers, while attendees will have numerous networking opportunities throughout the conference. Te Healthcare Estates Conference and Exhibition 2023 promise to be unmissable for anyone involved in healthcare engineering
and estates management. With the celebration of IHEEM’s 80th anniversary at a special evening event on 9 October (see this month’s Institute News), it will also provide a chance to celebrate the remarkable achievements of the past, and shape the future of healthcare facilities. I would like to thank the IHEEM Head
Office team, IHEEM Council, and the IHEEM Conference Committee, for helping organise the largest Healthcare Estates in the event’s history. Tanks are also due to the event sponsors, and our event partners, Step Exhibitions, for all the hard work that goes into delivering the conference, exhibition, and gala awards. I look forward to seeing you in Manchester.

BioClad explained: “Raphael incorporates award-winning technology from both Angel Guard’s Michael clinical washbasin unit and its Clarence system – a world-first remote water monitoring system with biofilm-sensing capabilities.” Raphael delivers water through a
