HEALTHCARE ESTATES Embodying British engineering
Brandon Medical, ‘a renowned UK manufacturer and designer’, says it ‘stands at the forefront of cutting-edge technology solutions for operating theatres, critical care areas, and primary care institutions’. The company said: “With a 75-year
legacy, Brandon Medical embodies the quintessentially British engineering ethos, and a strong work ethic that drives continuous product innovation, which has led us to create ‘smart’ turnkey equipment, catering to acute and primary healthcare needs worldwide.” ‘From specialised surgical lighting
systems, to meticulously crafted operating theatre control panels’, Brandon Medical says its ‘commitment to excellence’ is evident in the design of open-architecture solutions including medical AV systems, critical care pendant systems, operating tables, medical IT, and uninterruptible power systems. It added: “Drawing on decades of practical
The important role of ductwork and HVAC systems
expertise, we excel in configuring regulatorily compliant acute care areas with a focus on engineering contingency and resilience, while maintaining a commercial design philosophy.” The company says its ‘dedication to seamless customer experience’ extends to installation, commissioning, and servicing of supplied systems. To streamline maintenance support, Brandon Medical offers a single Managed Asset Contract, giving clients ‘the ease of one point of contact’.
eEnergy says ‘most NHS Trusts have a Green Plan documenting the sustainability actions needed across their Trust to meet their Net Zero targets – with carbon reduction targets and energy use the key features’. eEnergy said: “To create a robust Green Plan, a detailed understanding of energy consumption and wastage is necessary to provide an informed baseline. Every organisation wastes energy, often around 30% of its

energy waste, and miss opportunities to take action to cut costs and carbon.” eEnergy works with NHS Trusts ‘to champion the transition to cleaner energy’, reportedly helping its customers save up to 50% on their energy usage with no upfront costs. It said: “Our unique energy analytics platform (MY ZeERO), alongside energy procurement, LED lighting, on-site solar, and EV Charge Point services, combine to help you make a massive and immediate impact on your Net Zero objectives. No matter what stage you’re at on your Net Zero journey, we are here to propel you towards a sustainable future, and with over 1000 efficiency projects completed, we understand how to address your challenges.”
Hospitals, clinics, and other medical facilities, are spaces where patients, staff, and visitors, converge, and the RJ Urmson Group works in the healthcare sector, and ‘understands the importance of ventilation maintenance, HVAC verification, and ductwork cleaning’.
The company said: “In healthcare settings, proper ventilation is essential for infection control and patient recovery. Ventilation systems prevent airborne pathogen spread, ensuring a supply of clean air. Regular maintenance – including filter changes and cleaning – are crucial to avoid the build-up of harmful particles, especially for vulnerable patients with weak immune systems. HVAC system verifications are equally important, ensuring compliance with HTM 03-01 guidance, optimising performance, and maintaining stable conditions for sensitive medical equipment and procedures. Ductwork plays a vital role in circulating conditioned air, but can accumulate dust and contaminants, posing health risks. Regular cleaning reduces airborne transmission risk, and improves indoor air quality. By investing in these services, healthcare facilities prioritise the health and comfort of patients, staff, and visitors. Visit the RJ Urmson Group at Healthcare Estates 2023 for more.”
QuiqSolutions and IHEEM partner on ‘paper to digital’ agenda
‘Building on success in delivering its acclaimed solution for NHS Trusts to manage their PAM submissions’, software and technology specialist, QuiqSolutions, in conjunction with IHEEM, is launching a suite of tools to assist in EFM governance and compliance.
It explained: “The scope of the solution includes delivery of a digital solution around the AE auditing process, married to a new self-assessment tool for Trusts to manage year-round compliance with the HTMs in each area. IHEEM-accredited AEs will be able to request information in advance of an audit, speeding the process, and giving them access in advance to key documentation and records. They will then be able to complete their audits using content devised with the subject experts from
IHEEM technical committees. Once an audit has been published, its findings are shared with the provider, who can record their own evidence and action plans, which will be accessible for review by the AE as part of their ongoing relationship.” Paul Kaye, director at QuiqSolutions, said: “By creating a standard set of audits, IHEEM AEs will be bringing a new level of consistency into the audit process, while retaining the ability to follow their own lines of enquiry in response to their findings.”
